Interpretation of Summer Sand Tray Therapy Class

The sand tray depicts several soldiers/police men next to a green and red snake. Other notable items include a purple star fish in the left corner of the tray, and a butterfly on the right side of the tray. According to the dream moods website soldiers represent discipline, structure, and rigidity. Soldiers may also represent protection agains threats.
The butterflies may represent may symbolize womanhood within Japanese culture. They may represent wandering spirits such as after the death of a love one (symbols dictionary). According to the dream moods website a butterfly may also represent longevity, creativity, and romance or the process of going through a transformation. The snake may represent anxiety. The starfish may indicate healing and the need to make decisions. Starfish are also considered opportunistic predators within the sea world. It is important to remember that only the creator of this tray really knows what each item represents.
What does it all mean? The tray does not seem to represent any one particular pattern or thing, but there seem to be some emotion evident, perhaps denoting different feelings of the creator at the present moment. The creator represented some fear as exhibited by the snake, the snake seems to be blocked by the soldiers, so if it decides to strike or move the soldiers will act accordingly. The creator noted that protection is apparent. Healing is also apparent as noted by the starfish, so maybe many emotions are represented and some are in the process of being healed. When the soldiers are able to control the fear then creativity and longevity will bloom into existence as represented by the butterfly.
