Since my immediate family is not that large, I figured it wouldn't be too much for me to find a miniature that accurately captured some aspects of my family. The difficulty in this assignment for me was that I felt like no one miniature completely captured every trait of someone in my family. I spent a lot of time trying to decide which miniatures would be the best instead of going off whatever miniature I was drawn to for each family member.
For my father, I chose a lizard. My primary reason for choosing the lizard is because my father is sneaky. He and my mother are no longer together, but when they were married my father never wanted to tell anyone where he was going. It always seemed to be a secret. Lizards in my opinion can be sneaky as well, in the way they slither around, and how they always seemed to be hiding. I felt that the lizard was the best way for me to capture my father.
For my mother, I chose an elephant. Elephants are very strong creatures, and they also seem to be wise. My mother is a very strong woman. Sometimes, she almost appears to be too strong when she doesn't show any type of emotion. It almost comes off as her being uncaring. but overall, my mother is a strong, wise woman who cares for her children. In the same way that I see a mother elephant care for and protect her children, I see my mother in the same fashion.
My little sister was represented by a dancer/ballerina. She loves to dance and is full of so much life and joy. I chose a dancer to represent her because it matches the level of energy she possesses.
My eldest brother is represented by an angry bird miniature. I went back and forth between a few miniatures before I finally chose the angry bird for him. I chose this miniature because he always seems to get upset like a bomb just waiting to explode. He seems to have a short fuse like the angry birds that are shot off into the sky. This miniature best captured him because I feel like there's a side of him that sometimes just wants to explode.
My other brother was represented by an alien, primarily because of how weird he can be. He's very smart and insightful about some things, but he can be a little socially awkward, especially a few years ago. Also, just like some aliens, he enjoys being by himself a lot of times, in a way secluding himself from others. Growing up, my brother always seemed to be a little socially awkward, but as of late, he has grown out some of the awkwardness.
For my miniature, I chose Cinderella. I didn't choose her because of her fairy tale ending, but I chose her because she was always on a mission to please her stepmother. I feel like as a child, and even now, I always strive to please my family in everything that I do.
