Sand Tray Therapy Analysis

The sand tray therapy tray reveals the creator’s resilience and determination. The creator was determined to build herself a bridge and used what she had (legos) to achieve this. She looked for a creative way out of a difficult situation, undaunted about the task. This indicates the creator’s determination to get things done whatever the obstacle. The arrangement in the tray, showing the creator on one side of the bridge with a treasure box, beach ball and a flourishing tree on the other side of the tree, shows that the creator sees her current sacrifice paying off in future. Rewards await her when she is able to successfully cross the bridge. The creator represents herself with a mermaid miniature with medusa like hair. Mermaids are viewed as charming, persuasive, seductive, alluring, elusive, mysterious and untamed. The medusa hair adds a different twist of someone who may scare others, alone and shunned. The creator may at this time be experiencing situations that challenges how she innately views herself. The tortoise seems to denote a place of peace and guidance for the creator in the midst of the conflicts. The stones around her may indicate need to be focused so that she is not swayed from her journey, the many stones may also denote a need for being constantly reminded to stay on the path to her goals so she does not lose her way.
