Play therapy game: The Feelings Matching Game

Feelings Matching Game for Play Therapy Game Idea

Materials for Play Therapy Game:
Construction paper or colored index cards
Markers or crayons
scissors

If you use construction paper, cut the paper into equal squares, as many as you would like. Index cards are already pre-cut. On one square you will write a feeling word. On the square you will draw a picture to match the feeling word. For example if you write the word happy, you will then draw a happy face to match. If you write the word sad, you will then draw a sad face to match.

The object of the play therapy game is to have the child match the feeling word to the picture that best represents the feeling word. This games will try and create dialogue and help children learn to express his or her feelings. I also left a few blank cards available just in case the child would like to write down their own feelings and create a picyure to match. This play therapy game can be done with a group or individually.
