When I first started to make this play therapy game for my play therapy class I was having a difficult time. I started to think of games that I loved when I was a child and one came to my mind. I loved the game Candyland so I started to think of ideas and came up with a color scheme.
The five colors are:
Orange = favorite animal
Purple = What are you feeling now
Green = Favorite outside activity
Blue = Favorite thing to do
Pink = Something good about yourself
The object of the game is for the child to roll each other and maybe multiple times to get to the end of the path. As they are working their way to the finish line they are expressing their feelings and the counselor is able to get to know them through a fun game.
The client is able to pick what they want as their play piece from the minautures in the room. I placed a few out as an example. The counselor would also be playing along so that the child could get comfortable around the counselor.
