My play therapy topic is jungle. I plan on working with children and families in play therapy, so I created a pre-historic jungle with several different types of family units. The frogs have six members to their family while the Pterodactyl is watching over a family of four unhatched eggs.
My goal was to create a play therapy world where despite the family dynamic, each family was somehow represented. There are some family units with one defined adult with one or multiple children.
There are also some family units with just one member represented. Despite what each family looks like everyone’s family is an important part of the jungle. I surrounded the jungle with grass; the grass represents food, protection, comfort, and equality.
The importance of equality is to represent that despite the constellation of the family unit they all belong to the same jungle. I chose various colors for the animals to represent multiculturalism.
My overall goal for this play therapy activity was inclusion regarding family unit, family size, and embracing our differences. I have grown quite fond of this world and plan on saving it and using it in family practice.
