My Genogram In Play Therapy Class

Working on my family play therapy genogram was pretty simple. My family of origin consists on my dad, mom, myself and my younger brother. As you can see I used a variety of miniatures to represent my family members.

Tiger from Winnie the Pooh represents my younger brother. As a kid he was very active and into sports. There was a free spirit about him. He was very flexible and could adapt to any situation. He loved ot be around friends and he loved the outdoors.

For myself I used Piglet from Winnie the Pooh. Piglet was always a good friend to Pooh and the gang. I was a good friend to the people I played with and grew up with. I was always the shortest girl out of my friends. I was kind of quiet but always liked to have fun. I enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Like Piglet, I too enjoyed a good party.

The play therapy miniature that represents my mom is the #1 candle. My mom is everything to me. She was number one when I was growing up and she still remains number one. My mom is a very strong, compassionate, and loving person. She taught us to always do our best. Even through difficult times with my dad, she always remained positive.

The play therapy miniature that represents my dad is a dinosaur. I chose that particular miniature because growing up my dad was pretty mean and made several choices that were not beneficial to himself or his family. I still have difficult feelings that I'm trying to process and work through regarding my dad.

The simple part of the play therapy genogram was gathering the miniatures to represent my family members. The difficult part was facing the not so good feelings that I sometimes try to forget.
