As you can see above, these adorable play therapy puppets were made out of paper bags, glitter, and construction paper. They were simple to make, yet so visual and creative.

The student who made these took the theme of Goldilocks and the Three Bears and made matching puppets to go with the matching puppet theater, see puppet-theater-example.

It does not take a lot of money to make creative play therapy puppets for your clients. It is often a healing experience to make the puppets with the client per their specifications.

When you make play therapy puppets for, or with, your play therapy clients they can experience creative therapy on a whole new level.

It is also a wonderful gift to give your play therapy clients. When you make something inexpensive for your clients they can use them in the play room and take them home. Often, I find my clients replay what we went over in play therapy.

I would say this is better than giving the play therapy client homework! Make and take items in therapy are the new "it tool" in therapy. Parents can ask their child, "What did you do in the therapy session today?"

Not only will the child tell the parent, "We played with puppets!", but they will have a visual to show the parent(s) as well as a creative counseling tool to recreate the play therapy session.

Parents spend a lot of money on play therapy and love to see a product from each therapy session. This is where the "make and take" item comes in handy. It is a win win situation for everyone.
