As with most of the assignments for this play therapy class I never know quite where to start. For this assignment my understanding was we had to create a play therapy stage using a cereal box. This play therapy stage however, was not simply to reenact plays from great playwrights but to represent our lives. Shakespeare said it best in his play, As You Like It, “All the world 's a stage, and all the men and women merely players. They have their exits and their entrances; And one man in his time plays many parts" - (Act II, Scene VII).
I choose a few roles I play, citizen solider, student, a fashion forward guy, a technology connoisseur health conscience-exercise and food choices, cook, financial, inept, and some ways I unplug from the stage. The largest pictures are those that represent my military involvement. My favorite is on the upper left corner of the box. It is a picture of a solider in the filed in full military gear with a tactical laptop. That picture depicts my military life. I am a solider that has a technology based MOS (military occupation specialty; in layman’s terms my job function.
Another role that permeates my life in trying to live a health conscious lifestyle. I exercise a few days a week and make health food choices. There is a picture of a rice bowl that contains brown rice, salmon, and asparagus. That is actually my favorite dish. Don’t get me wrong, I certainly like to indulge in desserts as well, I love chocolate ice-cream and chocolate cake.
That leads me to another role; chef extraordinaire (smile). I like to bake desserts from time to time. My signature specialty is chocolate mousse cake. I often modify the recipe to make it a little healthier like substitute oil with applesauce, or whole mile with soy milk. However, when it comes to ice cream I don’t make any substitutions.
