Dream Analysis Sand Tray Therapy -Student #5
This tray was both a difficult and a sand tray to create. When asked to create a dream tray, a recent dream that I had about my grandmother seemed to be the only dream that I could remember every detail clearly. Typically I can only remember bits and pieces of my dreams. My dream sand tray shows a representation of a bad dream I had not to long ago. This being a dream that I will never forget. Not too long ago the worst day of my life hit, the day my great-grandmother passed away. Moths after this I had a dream that a family member called to inform me of her death. In this dream I was distraught and unable to function properly. I broke down both mentally and physically withdrawing myself from the world. I was able to awake myself from this dream only to tell myself “it’s ok, it was only a dream. She did not really pass.” Shortly after laying my head back down to fall asleep I sat up in my bed only to realize that this wasn’t just a dream. I realized that this is what had happened already only a few months ago. Immediately my heart sank. To this day I am unsure of what this dream meant, I’m not sure why my mind chose to take me back to the worst moment of my life. All I can do is hope that this does not turn into a reoccurring dream.
In my sand tray I have a cross and an area with water representing my grandmother. Surrounding this area I have place a variety of miniatures which represent all of that individuals that are close to me. There is sadness overshadowing the tray. In creating this tray I have realized that I have not fully grieved her death. I experienced feelings of both hurt and sadness in creating this tray.
