Bibliotherapy in Play Therapy Dr. Suess
The book I chose for the play therapy bibliotherapy book was Oh, the Places You'll Go! by Dr. Seuss. I chose this book because it is my favorite children's book. I have loved it so long that I cannot even remember when I first came across it. I actually own this, along with Baby, the Places You'll Go: A book to be read in utero and Oh, Baby! Go, Baby! with sensory pages for my toddler.
This is a good book for play therapy bibliotherapy because it describes life in general. It is optimistic. It is straight forward and well written. I takes about success and failure. It talkes about waiting. It is a great book for graduates, and anyone experiencing new things in their lives.
I read it to my class on the first day of school and talk about the school year ahead of them. I talk about things they will learn and like the book says that they will succeed most of the time and I will be there to help them.
Then I read it on the last day of school and talk about their success and the waiting game until next year. We talk about their fears and apprehensions. We talk about summer vacation and the importance of keeping up with all that they learned this year and how wonderful it will be for them next year.
