I always relax when I color in this Beyond Art Therapy meditation entitled “Paradise Island”. Art therapist can use this activity with adults and kids!

Try it on yourself first, and then use it with your Beyond Art Therapy clients, or students.

This Beyond Art Therapy activity is also a very effective group activity. I find that when my students in group use these art therapy coloring techniques they have a much better day in the classroom.

Remember, with this Beyond Art Therapy activity you will start with the darker colors (below) first, and then move to using lighter colors (Higher).

This increases the endorphins in the brain and the mood becomes “happier”. The bird is the last to be colored.

Generally speaking,the Beyond Art Therapy client, or student, will chose a bright color for the bird. This might suggest that the Beyond Art Therapy client’s mood has lifted.

1. Color the ocean a dark, deep blue color.

2. Color the island a dark green.

3. Color the volcano purple.

5. Color the waterfall a medium blue color.

6. Color the palm tree leaves a light green.

8. Color the sun yellow.

9. Color the clouds white.

10. Color the bird any color you prefer.
