A Yummy and Unique Play Therapy Activity to use with Play Therapy Clients: Candy Shop
My individual play therapy counseling project was the Candy Shop. This concept reminded me of how excited I was when I got the chance to go to the candy store as a child. In fact, in retrospect I believe that it was the idea of having so many choices rather than the actual candy that made me so happy.
This play therapy activity candy shop serves as a metaphor for me at this stage in my life. I am happiest when I am presented with several options or choices, and I am in the process of creating more choices for me and my family by increases my education and my skills so that I am able to choose what I want in this life.
As a play therapy counselor, I would offer this same metaphor to my play therapy clients in an effort to assist them in making choices and prioritizes what is important to them. This play therapy activity / play therapy technique project was yet another unexpected and introspective learning experience. I am currently doing what I have to do, so that I can do what I want to do later. I am excited about the choices that I have in this wonderful “candy shop” that I call “life”.
